The NIAID is requesting applications from the two current awardees of National Biocontainment Laboratory (NBL) construction (UC6) cooperative agreements. The applications will be for UC7 cooperative agreements for operations support of essential cores.

As part of the NIAID Biodefense Network, the NBLs will be national resources and provide research facilities for NIAID funded investigators and other research, as appropriate. In addition, the facilities will be available and prepared to assist public health efforts in the event of a national biodefense emergency. Since these goals extend beyond the usual scope of university owned facilities, NIAID will provide funds to support core operations of the NBLs.

NIAID will contact the NBL awardees directly regarding application procedures and format.
