The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases is amending RFA-AI-04-039 (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-AI-04-039.html) as follows:

1.  SNP or micro-satellite mapping is not responsive and will not be supported by this RFA, unless this mapping is directly associated with immune-mediated disease or transplantation studies.

2.  Competitive continuation grants will not be accepted.

3.  Budget direct costs for U01 applications may not exceed $300,000 per year.

Applicants are encouraged to contact NIH program staff well in advance of the application submission date to discuss the proposed research program.  While discussion with program staff does not ensure funding, staff will be able to determine responsiveness to this RFA and provide appropriate guidance as needed.
