National Institute on Aging (NIA)
This Request for Information (RFI) invites feedback on topics the National Institute on Aging (NIA) should consider as it prepares to revise and update the NIA Health Disparities Research Framework (the Framework). NIA intends to publish a revised version of the Framework in 2025.
The Framework was published in 2015 and showcases priorities and investments in aging research. The integrated conceptual Framework is intended to promote research that covers different levels of analysis related to disparities research such as environmental, sociocultural, behavioral, and biological. As the topic of health disparities among older adults from populations that experience health disparities are considered, the Framework aims to assess which areas are most in need of additional research resources. Developing aging research studies that reflect the levels of analysis described in the Framework may also shape evidenced-based interventions to help address, understand, and possibly end structural-level and other forms of discrimination and health inequities.
NIA requests input from all interested members of the public, including from researchers. Researchers may include those who have used the Framework in their research or those who simply have knowledge of the Framework. The feedback will inform planning and revision of the Framework.
Specifically, NIA encourages input on:
