Grant: A support mechanism providing money, property, or both to an eligible entity to carry out an approved project or activity.

Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards

The NIA intends to commit $16 million in FY 2016 to fund 10 awards.

Award Budget

New applications may request a budget of up to $900,000 in direct costs for the first year. Requests for subsequent years may include a 3% increase per year.

Renewal applications may request direct costs for all cores (both required and optional), and the other listed functions, i.e., satellites, and pilot grants at a level not exceeding the combined direct costs of all funded activities awarded during the final year of the present funding period plus a 3% increase, or $900,000 in the first year, whichever is larger. Requests for subsequent years may include a 3% increase per year.

The scope of the proposed project should determine the project period. The maximum project period is 5 years.
