National Institute on Aging (NIA)
The National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to publish a Funding
Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to solicit applications to conduct a clinical trial(s)
on effects of vitamin D supplementation on falls and gait speed in older
community dwelling individuals. The goal is to determine the dose-response and
efficacy of vitamin D supplementation on falls. This initiative will support
one multisite award. Applicants are strongly encouraged to consider advanced,
cost-efficient designs that include a dose-ranging phase followed by an
efficacy phase for select doses. This Notice is being provided to allow
potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and
responsive projects.
The FOA is expected to be published in May 2013 with an anticipated receipt
date in August 2013.
This FOA will utilize the U01 activity code. Details of the planned Funding
Opportunity Announcement (FOA) are provided below.
This Notice encourages investigators with expertise in endocrinology, vitamin D metabolism, geriatrics, biostatistics, clinical-trial design and implementation, data management, central-laboratory procedures, and functional assessment.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING SOLICITED AT THIS TIME.
