The NIA has developed a colony of aging mutant and engineered mouse models of interest to the aging research community. Currently the colony consists of four lines: Snell Dwarf mice (oldest date of birth is 1/07), Ames Dwarf mice (oldest date of birth is 2/07), a GFP reporter transgenic line where the GFP is expressed in all tissues under the human ubiquitin C promoter (oldest date of birth is 3/07), and the mutant alpha-synuclein transgenic line B6; C3H-Tg (Prnp-SNCA)M83/Vle (oldest date of birth is 4/07). The goal of this colony is to provide small numbers of mice at different ages to facilitate NIH-funded studies on aging.

Information on the mouse models, selected references, and ordering procedures and forms are available on the web at http://www.nia.nih.gov/ResearchInformation/ScientificResources/NIAMutantMouseAgingColony/.
