Happy National Research Administrator’s Day!

You’re overdue. No, not for an application or report. You’re overdue for some appreciation. I was sitting in an agency update session at the Federal Demonstration Partnership meeting earlier this month. I was struck by how much you need to know to administer federal grants. It’s hard enough for me to keep NIH policies and systems straight. I can’t imagine having to do it for multiple agencies. What you do is nothing short of amazing.

Here is a fun little test of your grants administration prowess. Can you figure out the NIH grant administration term associated with each picture clue?

1.       Title: Grants

2.       Title: Parent Announcement

3.       Title: Grants Management

4.       Title: Just In Time

5.       Title: Notice of Award

6.

7.       Title: Change of Institution

8.       Title: xTrain

9.       Title: Reference Letters

10.   Title: Grants Administrator

In case you couldn’t figure out that last one … it’s you - the super heroes of research administration. Some of the other clues are kind of tricky. If you’re like me and can’t stand to leave something unfinished - here are the answers.
Enjoy your day - when you aren’t showing off your mad-skills submitting and tracking NIH training and multi-project grant applications.
